Why
become a sustainable business?
Have
you considered the impact of your business, both positive and negative,
on the landscape and environment on which you rely?
Tourism has an impact on any destination especially those that have
a fragile or sensitive landscape. By committing to a responsible approach
tourism businesses, their guests and all visitors to the area can reduce
the impact of tourism and may even help to contribute to the conservation
of the destination.
Improving the environmental practice of your business makes good business
sense.
For a modest investment, for which there are many grants, you can;
- minimise
your fuel bills and the costs of waste disposal
- attract
more custom, there is a growing demand for tourism accommodation and
activities which minimize their impact on the environment.

UK experiencing 'green boom'
A
new survey indicates that Britain is enjoying a boom in environmentally
friendly green products and services.
The
Ethical Consumerism Report found that the UK's market for greener
goods had overtaken retail sales of beer and cigarettes for the
first time. According to the study, UK ethical consumerism was
worth £29.3 billion last year, an 11% rise on the previous
set of figures and also accounts for a higher proportion of consumer
spending, as overall household expenditure only grew 1.4%.
