Gwneud Eryri yn Wyrdd	Greening Snowdonia
Mae twristiaeth yn Eryri yn debygol o fod yn fwy cynaliadwy diolch i brosiect newydd sydd yn cael ei redeg gan elusen flaenaf y Parc, Cymdeithas Eryri. Wedi ei ariannu gan CAE fe fydd Cronfa Datblygiad Cynaliadwy yn lansio eu prosiect newydd Egni Cynaliadwy a Thwristiaeth (SEAT) i annog darparwyr twristiaeth ac ymwelwyr i groesawu'r amcanion cynhaliol a gwarchod yr amgylchedd naturiol yn yr ardaloedd y mae'r diwydiant twristiaeth wedi ei selio arno.	Tourism in Snowdonia is set to become more sustainable, thanks to a new project led by leading Park charity, the Snowdonia Society. With funding from the CAE Sustainable Development Fund the Society will soon be launching its innovative Sustainable Energy and Tourism (SEAT) project to encourage tourism providers and visitors alike to embrace the notions of sustainability and conserve the natural environment upon which the areas tourism industry is based on.
Dywedodd Dan James, Cyfarwyddwr Gweithredol Cymdeithas Eryri, "Pob blwyddyn mae 11 miliwn o ymwelwyr dydd yn ymweld a Eryri- y Parc Cenedlaethol hynaf a mwyaf yng Nghymru yn cyfrannu £385m i'r economi lleol pob blwyddyn. Fodd bynnag mae hyn yn dod a costau, oni bai y caiff ei reoli'n ofalus- mae 10% o olion traed ecolegol ⁽¹⁾ yn deillio o dwristiaeth ac rydym mewn perygl o golli'r nodweddion arbennig sydd yn gwneud Eryri mor arbennig! Rydym yn falch felly o allu chwarae rol gweithredol yn hyrwyddo'r syniad o dwristiaeth cynaliadwy yn yr ardal- rhywbeth y gall pawb chwarae rhan ynddo".	“Every year the equivalent of over 11million day visits are made to Snowdonia - the oldest and largest National Park in Wales contributing a colossal £385m to the local economy each year” Said Dan James, Operations Director of the Snowdonia Society. “However this comes at a cost unless it is carefully managed – 10% of Gwynedd’s ecological footprint ⁽¹⁾ is derived from tourism and we’re in danger of losing the special qualities that make Snowdonia so special! We are therfore thrilled to be able to play an active part in promoting the idea of more sustainable tourism in the area – something that everyone can play a part in.”
Fe fydd y prosiect yn cynnwys cyflawni gwefan newydd yn manylu'r manteision o groesawu'r amcanion Cynhaliol o fewn twristiaeth ac yn cynnig awgrymiadau ymarferol i ymwelwyr a darparwyr i helpu i wneud Eryri yn wyrdd. Bydd cystadleuaeth fawr yn cael ei lansio er mwyn ceisio gwobrwyo'r busnes mwyaf cynaliadwy twristiaeth yn y Parc a'r busnes cynaliadwy twristiaeth sydd wedi gwella fwyaf yn y Parc, fe fydd cymorth ar gael ar gyfer perchnogion busnesau i dderbyn gwybodaeth penodol a chefnogaeth er mwyn rhoi cymorth iddynt i ddatblygu ymarferion cynaliadwy.	The project will involve the completion of a new website detailing the advantages of embracing the notions of Sustainability within tourism and will offer practical tips for visitors and providers to green up their act. A high profile competition will be launched in a bid to reward both the most sustainable tourism business in the Park and the most improved sustainable tourism business in the Park and help will be on hand to ‘signpost’ business owners to appropriate sources of information and support to help them implement sustainable practices.
Yn frwdfrydig i ymarfer yr hyn y maent yn ei ddweud mae'r Gymdeithas wedi cyflawni lefel dau o'r 'Green Dragon Environmental Standard' ⁽²⁾ yn ddiweddar. Mae'r safon yn anelu tuag at helpu busnesau i wella eu perfformiad amgylcheddol a chael budd o arbed arian.	Keen to practice what they preach the Society has recently achieved level two of the Green Dragon Environmental Standard ⁽²⁾. The standard is aimed at helping businesses to improve their environmental performance and benefit from cost savings.
Aeth Dan James ymlaen i ddweud, "mae ein gwaith o warchod ac ehangu'r Parc yn cael ei gyd-drefnu o Dy Hyll, sydd hefyd yn atyniad twristiaeth poblogaidd⁽³⁾ yn yr ardal. Rydym bellach yn gallu dangos ein bod yn gweithio'n galed i sicrhau ein bod yn gweithredu mewn ffordd sensitif i'r amgylchedd, ac yn gwneud popeth y gallwn i gyfyngu effeithiau ar yr amgylchedd- mae hyn yn debygol o arbed arian i ni yn y pen draw hefyd, ac rydym yn gobeithio y bydd sefydlaidau eraill yn cael eu hannog i'n dilyn".	Dan James continued “Our work of protecting and enhancing the Park is co-ordinated from the Ugly House, which is also a very popular tourism attraction ⁽³⁾ in the area. We are now able to demonstrate that we are working hard to ensure that we operate in an environmentally sensitive way, and do all we can to limit our effect on the environment – this is likely to save us money in the long term also, and we hope that other organisations will be encouraged to follow suit!”

NOTES (1) The Green Dragon Environmental Standard consists of five levels and enables companies to demonstrate effective environmental management of their business. The standard is applicable to any company or organisation, regardless of size or type, and will help them to achieve real environmental benefits as well as cost savings. It has been developed as a partnership project between ARENA Network and Groundwork Wales. (2) Ecological footprints are a measure of how much productive land and sea is needed to provide us with the energy, water and materials we use in our everyday lives. It also calculates the emissions generated from the oil, coal and gas we burn, and it determines how much land is required to absorb our waste (3) The Ugly House, wildlife garden, nature trail and woodlands are open daily from 9.30 – 5pm until the end of October. Admission is just £1 for adults and free for Snowdonia Society members and children.
