Lansio Gwobrwyon Twristiaeth Werdd Eryri 2008

Mae Cymdeithas Eryri’n lansio Gwobrwyon Twristiaeth Werdd Eryri 2008.  Bydd cyfle i fusnesau twristiaeth yn Eryri a’r ardal o gwmpas, sy’n gallu arddangos bod gweithredu mewn dull ‘gwyrdd’ yn dda i’w busnes ac i’r amgylchedd, ennill rhan o’r wobr o £1500 a rhywfaint o gyhoeddusrwydd haeddiannol yn rhad ac am ddim.  I ymgeisio rhaid iddynt roi cais gerbron cyn Ebrill 4ydd2008.  Mae’r beirniaid yn chwilio am fusnesau sydd wedi ymdrechu yn y meysydd canlynol yn ystod y flwyddyn ddiwethaf.

Rheoli adnoddau – Rheoli gwastraff – Prynu’n lleol – Perthynas â chymunedau – Codi ymwybyddiaeth staff – Codi ymwybyddiaeth ymwelwyr – Rheoli bioamrywiaeth

Hoffai’r beirniaid glywed hefyd am y busnesau hynny sydd wedi mabwysiadu dull gwreiddiol o fynd i’r afael â mater amgylcheddol.

Yn 2007 dangosodd enillwyr GTWE bod diwydiant twristiaeth Eryri wedi ymrwymo i warchod yr amgylchedd gydag amrediad eang o welliannau amgylcheddol yn cynnwys gosod tyrbinau gwynt, lleihau, ailddefnyddio ac ailgylchu gwastraff a chwilio am ffynonellau lleol o gynhyrchion a chyflenwyr.  Y busnesau hyn sy’n arwain y ffordd mewn sicrhau bod Eryri’n dod yn gyrchfan sydd â thwristiaeth gynaliadwy.  Mae busnesau sydd â natur werdd wrth wraidd eu gweithgareddau yn fwy effeithiol, yn fwy cystadleuol ac yn llwyddo i werthu’n well.    Hefyd, gall busnesau cynaliadwy fod â chydwybod glir o wybod eu bod yn lleihau eu heffaith ar yr amgylchedd hardd sy’n cynnal eu busnes.

Launch of Green Snowdonia Tourism Awards 2008

The Snowdonia Society is launching the Green Snowdonia Tourism Awards 2008.  Tourism businesses in Snowdonia and surrounding area, who can demonstrate that going ‘green’ is good for their business and the environment have a chance to win a share of the £1500 prize fund and some well-deserved free publicity, if they submit an application form before April 4th 2008. The judges are looking for businesses that have made efforts in the following areas in the last year:

Resource management - Waste management - Buying locally - Community relations – Raising staff awareness  – Raising visitor awareness – Biodiversity management

The judges would also like to hear from those businesses that have taken an innovative approach to an environmental issue.

In 2007 GSTA Winners showed that the Snowdonia tourism industry is committed to protecting the environment with a wide array of environmental improvements including installation of wind turbines, reducing, reusing and recycling waste and sourcing local products and suppliers.  These businesses lead the way towards Snowdonia becoming a sustainable tourism destination. Businesses that have a green ethos at the heart of their activities are more efficient, more competitive and more marketable.  In addition, sustainable businesses can have a clear conscience in knowing that they are minimising their impacts on the wonderful environment on which their business is based.

GSTA 2008 – Sponsored by CAE, Snowdonia National Park Authority, Countryside Council for Wales, Visit Wales, Carbon Trust, Gwynedd County Council, Conwy Borough County Council
