Dathliadau’r Gymdeithas!	Society celebrations!
Bydd Cymdeithas Eryri yn dathlu ei phen blwydd yn 40 oed y penwythnos hwn (8fed i’r 10fed o Fehefin 2007) mewn steil a thrwy gyfres o ddigwyddiadau wedi ei lleoli o amgylch stad y Craflwyn ger Beddgelert. Mae’r Gymdeithas wedi ‘Ymhyfrydu yn y Parc’ ers 40 mlynedd pan gafwyd eu cyfarfod dechreuol ar y 9fed o Fehefin ym 1967, ac mae wedi bod yn gyfrwng i warchod ac ehangu tirweddau mwyaf poblogaidd y wlad ers hynny. Mae’r penwythnos yn dechrau gyda noson anffurfiol nos Wener, sy’n cynnig cyfle i gloddio i’r gorffennol trwy wylio ffilm fer a gynhyrchwyd ym 1938 yn amlinellu’r ‘achos i’w amddiffyn’ ac yn galw am greu’r Parciau Cenedlaethol. Bydd awdur lleol, Rob Collister, yn rhannu ei deimladau o ysgrifennu ei lyfr newydd hudol- ‘Eryri- Y Parc dan Bwysau’- sydd yn adrodd hanes y Gymdeithas a’r Parc Cenedlaethol, a fydd yn cael ei gyhoeddi yn fuan gan Wasg Pesda. Bydd y noson hefyd yn cynnwys torri’r gacen pen-blwydd a’r cyfle i flasu sampl o ‘Gwrw Eryri’ sydd wedi ei fragu’n lleol, cwrteisi Bragdy Purple Moose ym Mhorthmadog (www.purplemoose.co.uk). Mae’r gymdeithas yn estyn croeso cynnes i unrhyw ffrindiau a chefnogwyr a fyddai’n hoffi dathlu gyda hwy o 8yh ar Nos Wener, Mehefin 8fed. Ffoniwch 01690 720297 i archebu eich lle os gwelwch yn dda. Dydd Sadwrn bydd aelodau’r Gymdeithas yn cymryd rhan mewn amryw o deithiau cerdded cyn uchafbwynt y penwythnos, y Cinio Gala Gymreig, gyda Fiona Reynolds CBE, Cyfarwyddwr-Cyffredinol yr Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol yn rhoi araith wedi’r cinio. Trwy gydol y noson, bydd aelodau a gwahoddedigion yn dathlu gwaith y Gymdeithas sydd wedi ennill llu o wobrau, ac yn mwynhau siocled lleol, cwrteisi Cwmni Siocled Tipyn Bach (www.tipynbach.co.uk). Bydd aelodau wedyn yn cael y cyfle i fwynhau ac archwilio'r hyfryd Stad y Craflwyn, eiddo’r Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol mewn taith gerdded dywysedig dydd Sul cyn mynd am adref. Dywedodd Dan James, Cyfarwyddwr Gweithrediadau fod y “Gymdeithas yn ffodus o gyrraedd carreg filltir mewn iechyd mor dda, byddai llwyddiant o’r fath ddim wedi bod yn bosibl heb ymdrech a chefnogaeth y miloedd o bobl. Rydym yn hynod gyffrous am y penwythnos, fydd yn darparu cyfle i edrych ymlaen at y dyfodol yn ogystal â hel atgofion o’r gorffennol.” Y Gymdeithas yw’r elusen arweiniol sydd yn gweithio i warchod ac ehangu’r Parc Cenedlaethol gyda dros 2500 o aelodau yn ymrwymo i’r gwaith arloesol. Mae’r gymdeithas, sydd ag enw da am ei gwaith ymgyrchol o ddiogelu’r Parc Cenedlaethol er lles pawb, hefyd yn rhagweithiol mewn amryw o fentrau sydd yn cynnal lles y Parc. The Snowdonia Society will be celebrating its 40^th birthday this weekend (8^th to 10^th June 2007) in style with a series of celebration events centred around the Carflwyn estate near Beddgelert. The Society has been ‘Passionate about the Park’ for 40 years since its inaugural meeting on the 9^th June 1967, and has been instrumental in protecting and enhancing one of the country’s best loved landscapes ever since. The weekend starts with an informal evening on Friday night, offering a chance to delve into the past with a viewing of a short film produced in 1938 outlining ‘The case for defence’ and calling for the creation on National Parks. Local author Rob Collister will be sharing his thoughts on writing a fascinating new book -‘Snowdonia ~ Park under pressure’- which details the story of the Society and National Park, soon to be published by Pesda Press. The evening will also include the cutting of an anniversary cake and an opportunity to sample locally brewed Snowdonia Ale, courtesy of Purple Moose Brewery in Porthmadog (www.purplemoose.co.uk). The Society extends a warm welcome to any friends and supporters who would like to celebrate with them from 8pm on Friday 8^th June. Please call 01690 720287 to book a place. On Saturday Society members will be taking part in a series of walks before the highlight of the weekend, a Welsh Gala Dinner, with Fiona Reynolds CBE, Director-General of the National Trust giving an after dinner speech. Throughout the evening members and invited guests will celebrate the award winning work of the Society and enjoy local chocolate courtesey of the locally based Typin Bach Chocolate Company (www.tipynbach.co.uk). Members will then have the chance to explore the National Trusts stunning Craflwyn estate during a walking tour on Sunday before departing. “The Society is fortunate to have reached this milestone in such good health” commented Operations Director, Dan James “Such success would not be possible without the effort and support of so many thousands of people. We’re really excited about the weekend, which will provide an opportunity to look towards the future as well as reminisce about the past.” The Society is the leading charity working to protect and enhance the National Park and has over 2500 members committed to its innovative work.
