Mae Cymdeithas Eryri’n gwahodd busnesau twristiaeth yn Eryri i ymuno â’r nifer cynyddol sy’n dangos bod ‘Busnes Gwyrdd yn Fusnes Da’.

Mae tafarnau, parciau gwyliau, caffis, safleoedd addysg preswyl, mannau gwely a brecwast a bythynnod hunanarlwyo yn newid eu gweithgareddau busnes er mwyn bod mor wyrdd â hirddydd o haf yn Eryri!  Mae’r busnesau mentrus hyn, a wobrwywyd yn ddiweddar gyda Gwobr Twristiaeth Eryri Werdd, yn profi bod buddsoddi mewn technoleg werdd ar y cyd ag ymarferion busnes effeithiol yn gallu arwain at ddiwydiant twristiaeth gynaliadwy o ansawdd uchel.

Meddai Emma Edwards-Jones, Swyddog Project Eryri Werdd y Gymdeithas, “Mae enillwyr Gwobrau Twristiaeth Eryri Werdd yn bobl ddyfeisgar sy’n edrych tua’r dyfodol ac sy’n dangos cyfraniad y diwydiant twristiaeth i amgylchedd, economi a chymunedau Eryri.  Er enghraifft, mae Trigonos, safle addysg preswyl a gwely a brecwast yn Nantlle, wedi buddsoddi’n drwm mewn system fwyler sglodion coed arloesol sydd wedi lleihau eu gollyngiadau o CO2 o 75%.  Mae hyn, ar y cyd â’u hymrwymiad i leihau, ailddefnyddio ac ailgylchu, a’u gardd gegin fawr sydd hefyd yn cyflenwi llysiau I’r cymuned lleol trwy siop fferm a Marchnad Talysarn yn golygu eu bod wedi eu henwi fel y Busnes Twristiaeth Gynaladwy Gorau, gan dderbyn hefyd y Wobr Carbon Isel.  Meddai Richard Grover o Trigonos ‘Roeddem yn hynod o falch o ennill y wobr hon a byddwn yn ei defnyddio i atgyfnerthu ein hymrwymiad i barhau â’n datblygiadau gwyrdd.’

Roedd cyfrannu at gymunedau lleol yn thema gref yng Ngwobrwyon Twristiaeth Eryri Werdd eleni.  Mae’r Caban, Bryn Refail wedi cynnig lle yn rhandiroedd ei ardd cegin i bobl leol ac erbyn hyn mae ganddynt restr aros.  Roedd y beirniaid yn falch iawn o weld bod Tafarn Bryn Tirion yn cymryd rhan mewn digwyddiadau cymunedol yn ogystal â dangos ymrwymiad cryf i reoli gwastraff.  Dangosodd busnesau eraill, fel Y Goeden Eirin, Dolydd a’r Hen Stablau, Machynlleth, bod mesurau i leihau effeithiau andwyol ar yr amgylchedd a llety o ansawdd uchel yn gallu mynd law yn llaw.  Cyflwynwyd Gwobrwyon Twristiaeth Gynaliadwy Calonogol i Snowbikers, Dolgellau, Gwesty Crafnant, Trefriw a Pharc Gwyliau Hafan y Môr, Pwllheli am fentrau amgylchedd sydd ganddynt ar y gweill.

Mae Emma Edwards-Jones yn pwyso ar fusnesau twristiaeth eraill yn y rhanbarth i leihau effaith amgylcheddol y diwydiant.  Meddai ‘Mae enillwyr ein gwobrau’n arddangos gwir fuddion i’r amgylchedd, i gymunedau lleol, ac i broffidioldeb busnes, beth bynnag fo ei faint neu ei gyllideb, drwy fabwysiadu dull mwy cynaliadwy o weithredu.  Mae Project Eryri Werdd yn hwyluso rhwydwaith o fusnesau ‘gwyrdd’ sy’n tyfu yn y rhanbarth ac maent yn fwy na bodlon rhannu eu profiadau a’u hymchwil.  Am fwy o wybodaeth gall perchnogion/rheolwyr busnesau gysylltu â mi ar twristiaeth@cymdeithas-eryri.org.uk neu ewch i www.eryri-gwyrdd.co.uk’.

The Snowdonia Society is inviting tourism businesses in Snowdonia to join the growing numbers who are showing that ‘Green Business is Good Business’.

Pubs, holiday parks, cafes, residential education venues, B&Bs and self-catering cottages are changing their businesses activities so that they match the vibrant green of a summer in Snowdonia!  These innovative businesses, recently rewarded with a Green Snowdonia Tourism Award, are proving that investments in green technology combined with efficient business practices can lead to a sustainable, high quality tourism industry.

Emma Edwards-Jones, the Society’s Green Snowdonia Project Officer, said ‘The Green Snowdonia Tourism Award Winners are a resourceful, forward thinking lot who demonstrate the contribution the tourism industry can make to the environment, economy and communities of Snowdonia.  For example, Trigonos, a residential, education venue and B&B in Nantlle, has invested heavily in a state of the art wood chip boiler system which has slashed their CO2 emissions by 75%.  This, combined with their commitment to reducing, reusing and recycling waste and their large kitchen garden which also supplies vegetables to the local community via a farm shop and Talysarn Market lead to them being named Best Sustainable Tourism Business, and also receiving the Low Carbon Award’.  Richard Grover of Trigonos said ‘We were truly delighted to receive the award and will use it as reinforcement for continuing our green developments’.

Contributions to local communities emerged as a strong theme for this years Green Snowdonia Tourism Awards.  The Caban, Bryn Refail has offered allotment space in its kitchen garden to locals and now has a waiting list.  The Bryn Tirion Inn impressed the judges with its involvement in community events combined with an impressive commitment to waste management.  Other businesses, such as Y Goeden Eirin, Dolydd and Yr Hen Stablau, Machynlleth, showed how measures to reduce environmental impacts and high quality accommodation can go hand in hand.  Snowbikers, Dolgellau, Crafnant Guest House, Trefriw and Hafan Y Mor Holiday Park, Pwllheli were presented with ‘Encouraging Sustainable Tourism Awards’ for environmental initiatives they have in the pipeline.

Emma Edwards-Jones urges other tourism businesses in the region to take action to reduce the environmental impact of the industry.  She said ‘Our award winners demonstrate the great benefits to the environment, to local communities, and to the profitability of a business, regardless of its size or budget by adopting a more sustainable approach.  The Green Snowdonia Project facilitates a growing network of ‘green minded’ businesses in the region who are happy to share their experiences and research.  For more information business owners/managers can contact me at tourism@snowdonia-society.org.uk or go to www.green-snowdonia.co.uk’.

The Snowdonia Society would like to thank the Snowdonia National Park Authority, Countryside Council for Wales, Visit Wales, Conwy County Borough Council, Gwynedd Council and the Carbon Trust for sponsoring awards.  The Green Snowdonia Tourism Awards 2008 were organised by the Snowdonia Society as part of their Green Snowdonia Project, funded by the CAE Sustainable Development Fund and the Countryside Council for Wales.
